My latest PCGS adventure - 4 new

Last year about this time I submitted an 1864 three cent silver to PCGS for
grading as a circulation strike. It came back slabbed PR61. I am 100%
convinced it is a circulation strike made from dies which had previously made
proof coins. I wanted it graded as a circulation strike, so I cracked it out (

Cent Melt - 2 new

I did some searching to try and figure out if the government had a cent melt
in 1943. About all I was able to find was the current 'new' law about melting.
I found steel was used because of a copper shortage but nothing about a
possible melt. Just something that was rattling around in my head. - Wed, May
