Rating/Ranking coin qualities? - 2 new
--------------------------------------
I keep seeing/reading/hearing people rank/rate coins as mint, good, very good
and average and such.. What guide do you all go by to rank the quality of a
collectable coin? In my eye I have some good condition coins but this might
not jive with the official rankings..this is why I am asking this questions. -

1915 was a 1945 coin after all. - 4 new

After scanning and zooming into the image of the coin it turns out to indeed
be a 1945 not 1915 coin. I also notice a S next to the date which I couldn't
see with my naked eyes [must be getting old?] Anyway, on the 1945 the '4' is
very smudged or something making it appear as a '1'.. Could this be something
done in production? If so, - Tues, Oct 7 2008 7:44 am

can carve out and lower the raised/relief areas of the coin. But how do they
raise sections that were previously part of the field? Do they add metal? -
